Health Programme
- Conducting periodic health awareness programme among the rural villages.
- Conducting health survey once in 11 months with the help of the community workers.
- Conducting the health education program for the young mothers and education educated young girls to treat the minor ailments & importance of various immunization programs. This will also enable our health workers to treat for the minor ailments with the kit provided to each of them.
- Conducting the free medical camps among various remote part of the villages and identifying chronically ill patients and referring them to our hospital for further treatment.
- Free medical dispensaries.
Care for the Widows, Destitutes & Senior Citizens
- Destitute home – Providing the food, Cloth and Accommodation
- Geriatric ward for the terminally ill old patients.
- Arranging the personal income scheme by availing the Govt. Pension schemes.
Community Welfare Centres
- Distribution of food and cloths during the celebration of local festivals.
- Conducting cultural program.
- Community celebration of religious festivals and National festivals.
Community Health Workers Training Programme
- Conducting health awareness program and screening programmes with the hospital health personal once in a month with a competitive base to encourage the people.
- Environmental hygiene and basic sanitation.
- Availability of health resources.
- First Aid.
- Arranging for immunization of vulnerable groups through the chain system.
To effectively implement various Community related activities around 10 volunteers are from 20-30 yrs with basic educational qualification of Plus two level.
These volunteers are trained by the personal from St Thomas Hospital with utilizing the infrastructure available. During these period of training each candidates are offered monthly stipend of Rs 1000/- to meet their basic expensive and needs.
In this process of preventing and promoting health care at the rural village in and around our areas. The services of the community health workers who had training in this programme is being utilized by various committees of our religious sisters organization for various health related activities.
The Activities of the community Health workers
- Identify the needs and problems of the family.
- Educating them on various heads through flashcards, flipcharts, puppet show, role play, mass media, practical example within the villages etc..
- Emphasise the importance of safe water.
- Disposal of refuse by demonstrating the use of a soakage pit and providing manure out of it for kitchen garden.
- Personal Hygiene.
- Awareness of contiguous diseases.
- Giving proper education regarding drinking water.
- First Aid.
- Provision of essential drugs.
- To organize camps, discussion and workshop among the local people in the field of health awareness, health formation and rehabilitation.
- To help implement immunization program with the help of the local Government.
- Keeping up hygiene and sanition all around the village with the help of social workers, coordination of volunteers and local people.
